Roman Opalka was a French-born Polish painter who painted numbers. In 1965, he began a painting a process of counting - from one to infinity. He finished his project "The finite defined by the nonfinite" when he passed away in 2011.
I don't know why, but I am somehow deeply moved by his work. By 2004, he had gone by to 5.5 million. I guess it's the idea of a never-ending piece of work that drew me in.
